Ingredients

Hilsa-500gms; cut into pieces, turmeric powder-2-3 pinches, onions; medium sized onion-1; sliced, ginger; pasted or grated-1 1/2tsp, green chilies; chopped-4-5, cardamoms-2, cinnamon stick-1 small, cloves-2, desiccated coconut (fine)-15gms, curry leaves-a few (optional), coconut milk-700cc, oil-4tbsp, ghee- 2tbsp, salt to taste, lemon juice-1tbsp or to taste.


Cooking Method

Step 1.  Rub the fish pieces with turmeric powder and salt and shallow fry till light golden brown. Remove and set aside.

Step 2.  Heat oil and ghee in a pan. Add cardamoms, cinnamon and cloves and let them brown. Now add onions and fry till golden brown. Add ginger and desiccated coconut. When coconut changes color add coconut milk, salt, chilies and curry leaves and bring to a boil.

Step 3.  Add fish pieces and cook on a slow flame till fish is done.

Step 4.  Sprinkle lemon juice. Remove from fire and serve with rice.
